Perhaps discipleship is also a way of life, but I think of it mostly as practicing for how you want to live your life. I think discipleship represents more of practice time than game time. It shapes and molds you and prepares you for the real thing. Discipleship is like practice.

Not flinching from her crochet hooks: “Yeah, it’s in the fridge.”
Sigh.
I remember the influence that the Purpose Driven Church had on me back in 1998. It made such good sense for my younger self to organize my brain around everything having purpose. As years went by, I was a little less in love with all of these ideas, and that’s when Rick wrote The Purpose Driven Life, which began with a very interesting opening sentence in chapter one: “It’s not about you.”
