Our physical nature is not a massive cosmic accident. It was on purpose. It has purpose.
We ought to ask ourselves, is Jesus being king a way to solidify in ourselves that no matter what happens on earth we have this guarantee of heaven? Or is Jesus’ reign over all of creation doing something today, in this very moment?
Today we “remember” not because many of us are recalling a memory, but because we are recalling history.

Jesus said that? Yeah, it is among the many teachings of Jesus that Christians ignore, or at least find confusing and set it aside as something that will probably come true in eternity. But I have news for you: it won’t!
Missio Dei. It’s Latin for “mission of God.”
We talk a lot about mission in the church, and that’s probably a good thing, but it is really important for us to distinguish between the mission that existed before we ever formed as a church, and the mission of our congregation…

Perhaps you remember it as though it happened yesterday.
You know, that thing you promised to forget!
Forgive and forget, right? That’s what I heard growing up.
No one wants to experience brokenness in their lives, but if we are all honest with ourselves, we are broken. We have hurt others and we have been hurt by others.
So, what do we do about it?
Shalom is not a temporary feeling, but a peek or preview into humanity’s future when all things will be well.
When I hear “great-grandpa,” I think about shag carpets, Viva Puff cookies, and a horse-racing board game, Steeplechase.
I know that not everyone refers to the grandparents as grandpas and grandmas; this is how I referred to mine. I had the privilege of knowing both sets of grandparents and even my great grandparents on my mom’s side of the family.
